Ingredients

  • 300 grams plain flour
  • 200 grams softened butter
  • 100 grams golden caster sugar
  • 100 grams milk chocolate

Instructions

  1. First, get all of the ingredients together.

  2. Now add the sugar to the butter and blend until smooth. You can do this by hand to with an electric blender.

  3. Now, blend in the flow to make a shortbread dough.

  4. Next, mix in your flavourings. See the recipe notes below. For me milk chocolate. Then form a ball with the dough.

  5. Now, roll the dough to a thick sausage shape and cover tightly with clingfilm. Place in the fridge for 1 hour.

  6. Once chilled, roll the dough out to around 2sm thick and, using a Christmas Tree cutter, cut out the individual shortbreads and place onto a baking paper covered baking tray. Do this until all of the dough has been used up.

  7. Bake the shortbread in a pre-heated oven at 200C / 180C Fan for 15-20 minutes or until the edge of the shortbread has turned brown.

  8. Let them cool and then present ready to be munched or pack in Christmas wrapping as lovely Christmas gifts. Yum!

Recipe Notes

Note: you can use any filling you want for these shortbreads. I used milk chocolate because I like it but you could use any chocolate, nuts, for example, pistachio or dried fruits. It's Christmas and they are Christmas trees so why not cranberries?
