Every girl loves a cocktail. In fact, so do many boys! There are hundreds of different cocktails out there. Some come and go with the fashions. Some are made and named after individual bars, cities, or even countries. There are, however, a few classics. The Cosmopolitan, the Whisky Sour, the Singapore Sling to name just three. Arguably, none are better known than the classic Martini. Gin or vodka based and, as our favorite spy would say… “shaken” or “stirred”. So how about a variation on this classic? The Passion Fruit Pornstar Martini has been about for a while. Passion fruit, vanilla vodka, and that all-important fizz. Perfect to start the evening off or just enjoy in the garden with friends. Yum!

But why “Pornstar”? A strange name for a drink. Catchy, yes, but “Pornstar”? It all comes from the passion fruit. The original cocktail was made in The Townhouse in Knightsbridge in London by the well-known cocktail bartender Douglas Ankrah. It was simply a vodka cocktail but the wonderful passion fruit taste got people talking and it quickly became known locally and simply as the “Pornstar”. The name then stuck.

So let’s make one shall we…

1. Gather the utensils and ingredients together

You’ll need a cocktail shaker and martini cocktail glasses. There are many different types of glasses for cocktails and a full and extensive guide can be found by clicking this link… ▶.

Regards ingredients, all that’s needed is ripe passion fruit (find ones with dimpled skin if you can), vanilla vodka, passoa, sugar syrup, prosecco, lime juice, and ice. Garnish with sliced passion fruit and green olives.

A quick comment on the Passoa and sugar syrup. Passoa is a passion fruit liquor. Relatively low in alcohol and can be found in most large liquor or grocery stores. Sugar syrup can also be bought over the counter but is very simple to make. Just dissolve equal parts of sugar and water together and let cool. The mixture can be kept in a fridge for a couple of weeks or so. Just in case you want more than one cocktail ????.

2. Make the Passion Fruit Pornstar Martini

With all of the ingredients together just open up your cocktail shaker and spoon the fruit from inside one passion fruit into the shaker. Note that the printable recipe below describes how to make 2 pornstar martinis. Just scale up or down depending on how many you require.

With the passion fruit in the shaker add the vanilla vodka, passoa, sugar syrup, lime juice, and ice. Put the shaker top on and shake until all of the ingredients are mixed together and have gone ice cold.

Using a cocktail filter pour the cooled cocktail into the glasses and top up with chilled prosecco. Garnish with a slice of passion fruit or green olives…
