Hi and welcome to The Yum Yum Club! I hope you like the name but I have to say thinking of one has been the hardest job of all so far!
Well, I’m Steve, and I’ve had quite an eventful life so far have travelled down many paths and through many countries. I now find myself living back in the UK with my beautiful wife Jennifer deciding what our next chapter should look like.
I’ve spent most of my working life what can only be called the Rat Race. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great fun but it has worn me down a little over time. After much deliberation with her indoors, therefore, we decided to try something different and came up with the idea of The Yum Yum Club. Before that, however, a little about the aforementioned…
Jen is lovely… I could stop there but I’m not convinced writing 3 words only would bode well for a would-be blogger now would it? But she is lovely…Jen and I met in Singapore back in 2015 when I was working and living out there. After a completely accidental introduction from a mutual friend my self-confessed lifelong bachelor status was blown to smithereens. I was smitten and have been ever since and have never looked back. Although only 6 years younger than me Jen has brought me a renewed energy and drive and when I suggested setting up The Yum Yum Club venture Jen was so positive that any doubt I had was forgotten in an instant.
Now, being a business type (although I can cook – more on that in a bit) I did ask myself how Jen would help with this new project? Well, when I asked her she did mention her marketing background, which was actually what I was hoping for, but, unfortunately, for only about 3 seconds. She then went on at great length talking about being Singaporean and how Singapore is the best place in the world for food and how she had tried food from all over the world and blah blah blah… I had to stop her and ask her where this was going? Suffice to say, the marketing bit will be a sideline contribution. Jen’s official role in The Yum Yum Club is as CTO…Chief Tasting Officer!!
With roles and responsibilities settled, Jen eating and me doing everything else, I thought it worth adding a little on what we actually what to achieve with The Yum Yum Club. Well, we both are big food and wine lovers and, in my teens, I did actually spend some time working in kitchens. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Gordon Ramsey (although I can be colourful now and again) but I can boil an egg! To this end, The Yum Yum Club is going to be based on food and wine (I do like wine ????) and hopefully help some of you with creative ideas as well as having a little fun along the way. I’m not sure exactly how this will evolve but the idea is that it is also a business venture so I will endeavour to share the blogging journey itself with you too. The bottom line though is the food is the star (and me obviously)…
New chief in town
