Are you looking for cupcake shops near you? If so, you need to follow some ideas that will lead you to the best shop. In this article, we’ll discuss nine tips on how you can quickly find cupcake shops near me!
-
Use Google Maps to Search For Cupcake Shops Near You
Type in your address and hit “search” next to the text box on the top right of the page. You can filter by cupcakes, bakeries & confectioneries, ice cream & frozen yogurt or donuts.
-
Search Restaurant Review Sites Like Yelp
Search your location name + cupcake shop, e.g., Boston cupcake shop – bakery, or visit Yelp’s cupcake shop near me page. You can find many things on Yelp, including new & popular restaurants, food trucks, bars & clubs. Check the sidebar menu on the right of the page (scroll down).
Also, use advanced search terms like filters (select miles) and cupcake flavors to narrow down your search. Choose from top results and look at user reviews posted. Yelp is great because it brings in ratings from other sites, so you can see what others say about a certain cupcake shop before you visit!
-
Go on a Food Crawl with Friends or Family
A food crawl is when a group of people go around to multiple places together to sample all the delights that one place offers. Car, bike, public transportation – can do this whatever mode of transport you prefer. Take turns driving or biking – whoever’s turn it takes everyone for a snack/meal. Stop somewhere, basically getting as many snacks from different places as possible over the day/night. End at a cupcake shop or bakery so you can top the night off with some deliciousness!
-
Check Out Online Directories
Some people prefer to find their food from a curated list of places as opposed to randomly searching on the internet. Try sites like Foursquare, which have “cupcake shop near me” functions that show you all the restaurants and businesses around your current location, filtered by cuisine type. You can even search for dessert-specific places like cupcake shops.

Check Out Blog Posts or Articles About Cupcake Shops in Your Area
This can give you ideas for places to go – and you might even stumble across a hidden gem you didn’t know about before! Food bloggers always have the latest scoop on what’s happening in the food scene, so they’re a great resource when looking for something specific (like delicious cupcakes).
-
Check Out Your Local Newspaper
Check out your local paper “Where to Eat” and “Calendar of Events” sections. This is a great resource for finding an alternative cupcake shop near me because it will tell you what new tasty things are happening in your area. And who doesn’t love that?

Check with Your Town Hall
Some towns actually post where all the cupcake shops (and other cool small businesses) are on official websites or on maps! Check with your city/county/town hall to see if they know of any reputable list of these types of foodie spots.
How to Store Homemade Cupcakes
Although there’s nothing quite as good as a freshly baked cake, life may get in the way sometimes, and we might have to keep a fresh batch safe for later. It’s more difficult to keep cupcakes fresh if you bake them ahead of time, and it’s disappointing when you bake cupcakes in advance, only for them to dry out or lose their flavor when you serve them.
It is possible to store cupcakes without compromising their quality with a few simple tricks:
Cool cupcakes completely before Storing
Putting warm cupcakes in an airtight container will cause them to release steam. As a result, cupcake tops will be sticky (which will make it hard for the frosting to stick), and cupcakes will peel away from their liners (which isn’t very fun).
You should let just-baked cupcakes cool, uncovered for at least one hour after removing them from the oven. Cupcakes must be completely cool before storing them.
Instead of using a plate or cutting board, I recommend using a wire cooling rack to cool cupcakes. Wire racks are inexpensive, and they help prevent cupcake bottoms from getting soggy or steamy by allowing air to circulate around them while they cool.
Cooled cupcakes should be stored in a tight-fitting container.
Place cooled cupcakes into an airtight storage container after they have cooled completely.
When storing cupcakes, try not to cover them with plastic wrap or put them in plastic bags. Giving the cupcakes a bit of room to breathe helps prevent sticky cupcake tops and keeps them fresher. Furthermore, storing cupcakes in a sturdy box will protect them from getting squished, making it less likely that they’ll get smashed.
Room temperature is the best temperature for cupcakes.
Rather than putting cupcakes in the refrigerator, I prefer to keep them at room temperature. Cupcakes stored in the fridge dry out faster than those on the counter, in my experience.
For example, in hot and humid weather, if your cupcake’s frosting is melting, it is best to put them in the refrigerator and bring them back to room temperature before serving. We don’t want dry, dense cupcakes when they’re cold.
Within two days after baking, frost cupcakes.
It is best to eat cupcakes within 48 hours of baking them. You should frost your cupcakes within two days of baking them.
